Performance marketing

Every dollar tracked to a job won.

Performance marketing for Australian service businesses. Google and Meta managed as one budget with one measurement layer, so spend moves to whatever is producing the cheapest quality leads this month.

Why paid budgets leak

You cannot optimise what you cannot measure.

No conversion tracking, so every decision is a guess
Separate providers on Google and Meta, both claiming the same lead
Reports full of impressions and reach, nothing about jobs won
A fixed budget split that has not changed in twelve months
How we run performance

One budget, measured properly.

01

Tracking before spend

We rebuild the measurement layer first. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) events, Google Ads conversions, Meta Pixel and Conversions API, call tracking on every number. Nothing scales until the numbers are real.

Why it works: we regularly take over accounts spending thousands a month with conversion tracking either broken or never installed. Every optimisation made before that point was made blind.
02

Channels by job, not habit

Google catches people already searching for your service. Meta builds demand and catches everyone who did not convert first time. We set the split by what your market actually does, then let the data move it.

Why it works: a fixed 50/50 split is a decision made once and never revisited. Cost per lead by channel moves constantly, and your budget should move with it.
03

Landing pages, not the homepage

Paid traffic goes to a page built for that campaign, with the service, the area, the proof, and one obvious action. We build and test them as part of the service.

Why it works: the homepage asks a visitor to work out where to go next. A campaign-specific page does not. It is usually the single cheapest lift in cost per lead available.
04

Monthly reallocation

Every month we look at cost per lead and, where the data allows, cost per job won by campaign. Budget moves toward what is producing work. What is not producing gets cut, not quietly carried.

Why it works: most wasted spend is not one big mistake. It is a handful of underperforming campaigns nobody switched off, compounding month after month.
Case study · Boutique legal firm, Darwin

Two years of spend, rebuilt around the numbers.

The challenge

This multi-practice law firm had been running Google Ads for 24 months with modest results: a 5.52% conversion rate, 3.32% click-through rate, and only 13.36% impression share. Budget was going to the wrong enquiry types while the firm's highest-value services sat underexposed. They needed an account that attracted the right matters and scaled without bleeding budget.

What we did
  • Full audit of the account against the firm's commercial goals
  • Strategy rebuilt around the firm's highest-value clients
  • Tighter alignment between search intent and creative
  • Organic visibility layered on so paid wasn't doing all the work

"The Cliqe team have been flawless start to finish. We switched our entire business over to them and they increased our engagement astronomically. The stats don't lie, they got the same engagement in 3 months as our last agency did in years."

02

Channel plan

Starting split across Google and Meta, plus a target cost per lead to hit.

03

Launch & learn

Campaigns and landing pages live together. Four to six weeks of real data.

04

Reallocate & scale

Monthly budget shifts toward what produces work. Scale on proven winners.

The two channels

Different jobs, same budget.

Google Ads

Capture existing demand

Someone types "emergency electrician near me" and needs a tradie today. Google puts you in front of them at the exact moment they are looking. Highest intent, usually the higher cost per click, and the fastest path to a booked job.

Meta Ads

Create and recapture demand

Facebook and Instagram reach people before they start searching, and catch everyone who visited your site and did not call. Lower intent up front, but cheaper reach and the cheapest cost per lead in the account once retargeting is running.

Common questions

What clients ask about performance marketing.

What is performance marketing, exactly?
Paid marketing where every dollar is tracked to an outcome you care about. Not reach, not engagement, not impressions. Leads, enquiries, and where the data allows, jobs won. In practice that means Google and Meta campaigns run together on top of a measurement setup that tells you which one produced each enquiry.
How is this different from just running Google Ads?
Google Ads is one channel. Performance marketing is the whole paid system, with Google and Meta managed together, shared tracking across both, and a budget that moves between them based on what is actually producing leads. If Google alone is the right answer for your business, we will say so and just run Google Ads management.
How much do I need to spend?
It comes down to three things: your location (cost per click varies several times over between capital city and regional markets), how many competitors are bidding against you, and the state of your existing account and website. Rather than quote a generic range that would not apply to you, we give you a real number in the free marketing review.
How long before I know if it is working?
Most accounts produce their first leads inside the first two weeks. You need roughly four to six weeks of conversion data before the numbers are reliable enough to make budget decisions on. Performance usually keeps improving through months two and three as we cut what is not converting and scale what is.
What if my tracking is already broken?
That is common, and fixing it is the first thing we do. We regularly take over accounts where conversions were never set up, were counting page views as leads, or stopped firing after a website change. Until that is right, no one can tell what the spend is doing.
Do you handle the ad creative and landing pages too?
Yes. Ad copy, static and video creative, and campaign landing pages are all part of the service. We can shoot on site, work from footage you already have, or build from your brand assets.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Month to month, no lock-in.
Do I own the accounts and the data?
Yes. The ad accounts, campaigns, audiences, creative, and conversion history are all yours. If you ever leave, everything stays with you and we hand over access.
